General Information
Name: Lurker Scout
Class: Beast
Type: Arachnoid
Threat Level: 1
Size: Medium
Height: 1.2 m
Description: The Lurker Scout is a strikingly slender, spider-like creature, masterfully engineered for stealth and agility. Its matte black body, paired with elongated limbs, allows it to deftly navigate tight crevices and shadowy landscapes. With a multitude of spidery eyes, this creature boasts exceptional night vision and heightened sensory awareness, making it a formidable presence in the dark. Despite its fearsome appearance, it isn’t physically imposing in combat; instead, the Lurker Scout relies on its extraordinary speed, cunning stealth, and a unique symbiotic partnership with the Lurker Predator to overpower its adversaries.
Behaviour: The Timid Lurker Scout operates as a decoy, luring targets into vulnerable positions. It often darts through cracks or shadows, fleeing at the first sign of a real threat. The Scout rarely engages unless it identifies a low-risk opportunity or is coordinating with its more dangerous counterpart. Together, they form a deadly ambush duo, with the Scout distracting the target while the Predator strikes from an unexpected angle.
Combat notes
Weaknesses: Highly susceptible to light and physical impact. Its delicate frame is especially weak around the neck, which can be severed with a precise strike. It panics easily when confronted or injured directly.
Strategy: Do not fight alone! Utilize intense light to expose and disorient the creature. Forcing it into open ground restricts its movement and removes its advantage of cover. The creature is intelligent enough to evade both melee and ranged attacks and tends to avoid extended confrontations. If both the Scout and Predator are present, prioritize eliminating the Predator first, as it poses the greater threat.
Alchemical aid: In confined and shadowed spaces, a dark-vision concoction can help spot it before it ambushes—but leaves the user vulnerable to light. A powdered inhalant, when released, causes severe disorientation in the creature, especially in close quarters.
Field Extraction
Valuable parts
Outer eye layers: Used in crafting delicate lenses due to their refined curvature and light sensitivity.
Extraction: Decapitate the head cleanly, then split the vertex. Carefully sever spinal cords to remove the full eye cluster from the interior. Let dry for a full day—do not scratch the surface, as this damages the usable outer layers.
